Whitman Massacre
The main cause for the Whitman Massacre was that Dr. Whitman could only cure all of the Europeans but not as many Natives, so the natives got mad, because so many people were dead. Another reason was when the little native kids went over and picked Dr. Whitman's watermelons. One day Dr. Whitman put laxative in the watermelons, so basically Dr. Whitman didn't really like the Native Americans, but the main reason what caused the Whitman Massacre was that the Natives thought that Dr. Whitman spread measles among them, and to protest the surge of the settlers on the Oregon Trail. A lot of trouble came upon Dr. Whitman and the Natives, so one day the Natives clonked Dr. Whitman on the head and then the didn't have to deal with him anymore.

Fur Company
If I had to choose to copy one fur company it would be the Hudson Bay, because the Washington book says that it is still operating today which means it was really successful. The Washington book also says that they are the most successful and that they trade directly with natives. The Hudson Bay Company was run by Dr. John McLoughlin. They traded directly with the natives which helped, because most of the time they didn't really have to catch their own, because the natives traded their furs for something else. That is why I would like to copy their company, because they were the most successful.

North America
The website Answers.com said that the Europeans were trying to find a new life in North America. They also came to find the Northwest Passage is a shortcut between Atlantic and Pacific oceans to Asia. Dale A. Lambert says that the explorers failed to find the entrance of the passage but instead they found North America exist. They couldn't go through the faster way because they would run right into Canada. They didn't want to go around South America so they thought that they would try to find a passage but they would have ran into Canada.

Three Main Theories
The land bridge is the bridge made of land that was dropped to make the land bridge, and it was the bigger land piece. The ice bridge is the Bering strait that froze, so people could go over the bridge. The Continental shelf was about when it connected Asia and Alaska so people could walk across. That is the three main theories we believe are true. I believe the land bridge is the most believable, because the bridge that dropped over time separated Asia from Alaska, so you can actually see that theory.

What sub region would I live in?
If I could chose one region to live in I would pick the western lowlands, because it gets a lot of rain fall every year and gets a lot of vegetation, because of how much rain they get each year. They also have rivers and streams nearby that flow from the Cascades and the Olympia Mountains. There is a lot of shipping there and excellent ports. These rivers are fed by heavy rain and snow. Then they flood and deposit fertile silt on the floodplains. They have mild temperatures through out the year. Summers near the Pacific Ocean are comfortable, because of the mild temperature and frequent rain. Winters may be mild but very wet. The winters are also not extreme or below zero for long periods of time. The vegetation there is made up of conifer and deciduous forest. That is why I want to live in the western lowlands.

Rainshadow effect of Washington State
The rain shadow effect influenced us in our climate for one, because the weather changes over and over so that is one way how it helped us. Another way how it helped us found in the Washington: a state of contrasts on page 29 was the leeward side and the westward side, because the westward side is a lush green side full of trees and good soil, because it gets a lot of rain. The leeward side however is a dry desert with no trees and no rain. The jobs over on the westward side would probably have a paper mills, and have loggers there. The leeward side has very few jobs, because there is not much to do over there. That is how the rain shadow effect has influenced Washington State.

Washington's geography
Some of the land features of Washington are the Pacific Ocean, Olympic Mountains, Puget Sound, Cascades and the Okanogan Highlands all make up parts of Washington. In the Olympic Mountains there is a lot of vegetation and rain up there. The Puget Sound is an island between the Olympic Mountains and the Cascades. The Cascades divide our state into two sides the wet western and the dry eastern.
